Garston Vets is extremely proud to offer a cohesive team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Veterinary Nurses and Patient Care Assistants working closely alongside dedicated receptionists, administrative and other support staff.

Our staff members are pet owners themselves and will look after your animal as they would their own.

Veterinary Surgeons

Our team of small animal veterinary surgeons have many decades of experience between them.

All our vets are general practitioners, and you will be pleased to know you will find the same team providing our personalised out-of-hours emergency service.

There is a wide range of individual interests amongst our vets, from orthopaedics, dentistry & internal medicine, to ultrasound imaging & laparoscopic key-hole solutions to surgery.

Our vets regularly undertake continuing education courses, and we can offer certificate-level expertise in small animal medicine, small animal surgery, cardiology and feline medicine within our team.

‘Continuity of care’ is a principle we recognise as vitally important in the management of longer-term cases, and we will always do our best to ensure that your pet can see the vet overseeing their treatment.

Veterinary Nursing Team

Garston Vets is very proud to add to its exceptional standard of animal care through its highly qualified team of veterinary nursing staff.

The majority of our nurses are Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) who have been trained to level 3 diploma or degree standards, with some holding further certificates in specialist areas.

RVNs work closely alongside veterinary surgeons providing advice clinics, preventative health care appointments, and consultations for nursing procedures.

Within the surgery RVNs are responsible for monitoring animals whilst under sedation or anaesthesia, medicating in-patients, and performing diagnostic tests under veterinary supervision.

Garston Vets also has an ongoing program to support the training and individual development of Student Veterinary Nurses to help maintain the standard of veterinary nursing in the Somerset and Wiltshire area. Our student nurses attend the Lynwood School of Veterinary Nursing, accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Student nurses work under the close supervision of qualified nurses and are regularly assessed throughout their course via practical & theory exams, work related logs, and other assignments. They are also expected to undertake several hours of private study each week.

We also employ a number of Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) to help our nursing team get through their busy days. Many of our qualified nurses started their careers as younger assistants!

Reception Team

Our receptionists play a key role in ensuring our veterinary practices operate smoothly.

We run a Telephone Team based at Garston House staffed by receptionists from all our sites. A member of our reception team is usually the first person that will assist you when you contact the surgery, or the first person to greet you on visiting one of our practices.

We pride ourselves on the level of personal client care that we provide at Garston Vets. Our receptionists are professionally trained to help guide you through the services we offer, and we recognise the importance of empathy towards you and supporting the care of your pet.

We strongly believe that your experience with us should be a positive one and you should feel valued. Such is our commitment to this; we ask that if for any reason your experience with us falls short then please contact us and we will investigate the matter for you.

Management & Support Staff

The clinical side of Garston Vets is supported by a very approachable management and administrative team, working in a variety of areas across our practices.

Finance, HR, Marketing, Merchandising, Insurance claims and our Wellness Plan are all areas that need a great deal of hard work behind the scenes.

Ambulance Team

We have two dedicated ambulance drivers that help keep all our sites closely linked and provide safe, air-conditioned transport for your pets if required between surgeries.

Please feel free to give them a wave if you see them on the roads around the region.
