EMS - As a modern small animal veterinary practice, part of our role is to provide a protected environment for young veterinary students to learn practical aspects of the profession. Garston Small Animal Vets has been involved in EMS for many years and are proud to play our part in training the vets of the future
If you wish to join our Small Animal team for part of your EMS, you will need to apply using our downloadable application form. If you have studied with us before, please contact us directly.
Please note, our Small Animal EMS placements are usually carried out at our Trowbridge branch, but, where appropriate it may be possible for students to spend time at our other sites. We are very heavily subscribed for EMS places, so we cannot guarantee there will be a place available at the times you request.
About EMS at Garston Small Animal Vets
On your first day seeing practice with us, please arrive at Trowbridge reception for an 8:30 am start, wearing appropriate attire (no jeans or trainers).
Making a good impression is important – you can do this by showing self-motivation; look at the following day’s diary and researching upcoming procedures or consults of interest to ensure you get the most out of your time with us.
If there is anything specific you would like to see or improve-on whilst seeing practice, please inform us at the beginning of your EMS placement and we will do our best to arrange exposure to these.
In quieter times we have a well-stocked library for independent study and can discuss case based scenarios aimed at your areas of interest.
