Our veterinary nurses play a key role within our veterinary care team in our companion animal practice. Working in all of our well-equipped surgeries, our nurses run their own clinics, care for our hospitalised patients, and assist with all surgical and medical procedures.
Not all of our nursing team are RVNs
Our nursing team doesn’t just consist of fully qualified, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs). We also employ student veterinary nurses, animal care assistants, kennel assistants, and often a career begins when someone volunteers for us as a kennel assistant after school.
We’re an RCVS registered training practice and are proud that many of our nurse trainees have gone on to now hold senior nursing positions in the practice. Many will also have started out as kennel assistants (part-time) or animal care assistants (full-time).
These positions allow potential student nurse candidates the opportunity to gain important experience, as we usually only consider applicants who have gained some practical animal handling experience, or who have achieved an animal care qualification at college, to become student veterinary nurses.
