Gemma Chellew
Gemma Chellew
Lead Veterinary Nurse - Warminster
Gemma graduated as an RVN in 2015, and completed her BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing in July 2016 from The Royal Veterinary College. Throughout her degree, she developed a strong passion for wildlife nursing, which led to undertaking a master’s degree in Wild Animal Biology and Health at ZSL London Zoo, during which she spent several months working at London and Whipsnade zoo, and with the big five in South Africa, developing a particular affinity towards rhinos. After her master's degree, she spent time working in a busy referral hospital, and locuming in several first opinion practices, before travelling and volunteering across South East Asia, Indonesia, Australia, Fiji and New Zealand, working with both small animal and wildlife charities. Most recently, Gemma worked at Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital, caring for sick, injured, and orphaned British wildlife before moving to Wiltshire as Head Nurse at a busy small animal practice. Gemma joined Garston’s as Lead RVN at our Warminster branch in October 2025. Clinically, Gemma enjoys all aspects of nursing in practice but has a strong affinity towards emergency critical care and medical nursing, having previous experience working in out-of-hours veterinary services and referral hospitals. Gemma enjoys sharing her extensive nursing knowledge with colleagues in practice, providing a high level of care for both patients and clinics alike. As well as her clinical nursing, Gemma also enjoys teaching, writing clinical journal articles, and speaking at congresses, as well as creating webinars for fellow veterinary professionals. Outside of work, Gemma enjoys countryside living with her husband and cocker spaniel, Mabel.
