We have speakers coming from AHDB to give technical and practical advice. This course is aimed at our Proactive Farmers, but anyone is welcome to attend if they are interested.

Garston Farm Skills ‘ Lameness and foot trimming’ with James Ryder & Robb Todd

 – Includes 6 hours of practical training

Course date – 11th & 12th August 2022

At the farm department, Garston House, Frome, BA11 1PZ

Day 1: (9.30am-4pm) Theory session followed by practical

Day 2: (9.30am-2pm) Morning practical

Course fee £350 (25% discount for Proactive Farmers)

Lunch is provided on day 1 and refreshments provided both days!

Each delegate will receive their own set of knives and nippers to take home, plus a certificate of attendance and eligibility for Dairypro points. Blocking and knife sharpening will be covered.

Run in association with experienced foot trimmer Rob Todd, Wessex hoof care. Rob is Dutch 5 Step Trained and a member of NACFT.

This on-farm course is aimed at all levels of staff member and provides training on both prevention of down cows at herd level and also the decision making & procedures performed when managing these cases to improve recovery whilst maintaining high welfare standards.
