Our student nurses attend The Lynwood School of Veterinary Nursing, which is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The students work under the supervision of our qualified veterinary nurses and veterinary surgeons, learning how to provide nursing care and treatments. They are regularly assessed throughout their course via theory exams, practical exams, a work-based progress log and assignments. They are also expected to undertake several hours of private study each week.
Yasmin Chant - Student Nurse
After completing a year of work experience, Yasmin became a kennel assistant in 2012 and has now progressed to an Animal Care Assistant and hopes to train as a veterinary nurse soon. In her spare time, she enjoys horse riding and walking her dog, Callie'
Shannon Selvaggio - Degree Student Nurse
Shannon joined us at the age of 13 as an after school volunteer. After finishing her A- levels, she attended Lackham College and completed Level 3 diploma in Animal Management and fitting in a part time kennel assistant position with us too! This then progressed onto a Foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing at Sparsholt College, Hampshire where she is working towards her 2nd year. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, friends and cat Bonnie. If that does not keep her busy enough, she also has a part time job in a pub where she enjoys working and socialising.
Amy Savage - Animal Care Assistant
Amy completed the Animal Management course, specializing in exotics at Lackham college, before working as a volunteer once a week at our Frome surgery. Due to Amy's hard work and commitment to the practice, she has been offered the opportunity to complete her 2 year nursing diploma with us. In her spare time Amy enjoys horse riding, keeping fit and spending time with her friends and family. Amy has 2 cats called 'Tilly and Treacle.
Emma Jefferey - Student Nurse
Emma attended Lackham college and completed a level 3 diploma in equine management, also completing 6 weeks or work experience with us in 2009. After finishing college Emma was employed with us as a receptionist and kennel assistant, before finally being offered a student nurse position. In her spare time Emma enjoy's riding her horse and taking part and organising charity events with the young farmers.
Emma Norton - Animal Care Assistant
Emma came to us for a work experience placement in 2012 and continued to work once a week as a volunteer. After a short time Emma then worked for us as a Kennel Assistant and in June 2015 she was offered the position of Animal Care Assistant. In her spare time she enjoys, horse riding and gymnastics and has a dog called jazzy and guinea pig called Patch.
Rachel Massey - Animal Care Assistant
Rachel wanted to work in the animal industry since she was 5 years old. She took a degree in English Literature but decided to change her career to veterinary nursing as she has always wanted to do it. Rachel knew that the only way to get into veterinary nursing was to start with a voluntary position and before she knew it she had been offered a Saturday morning paid position as a Kennel Assistant. Rachel is now working at Garston full-time and is waiting to start her student nurse training with us very soon. When she is not at work, Rachel is at home with her husband, 2 daughters, Labrador and 2 degus.
Annie Rolls - Animal Care Assistant
Annie completed 6 weeks work Experience back in 2014 and shortly after became kennel assistant. Whilst being a kennel assistant also completed a BSC honours degree in animal science and management. In 2016 then became ANA with us. At home she enjoys spending time with family, friends and lots of cuddles with her two cats and two rabbits.
